Round Table-Presentation «Inclusive Education — a Way to the Future»

On February 18, 2009 a round table-presentation under the name of “Inclusive Education – a Way to the Future” took place as a part of implementation of “Creation of the Favorable Informational Environment for Further Development of Inclusive Model of Education in Ukraine” Project.
During the roundtable the main developments and works of the project were presented:
- Analysis of Ukrainian legislature in the field of general education with the purpose of highlighting the main mechanisms of support and barriers to education for children with special needs in conditions of a general learning institution.
- Analysis of correspondence of Ukrainian laws to international documents in the field of human rights
- Analysis of the international experience in the field of implementing of the main mechanisms of inclusive education model with the purpose of further use in Ukraine
- Recommendations for necessary changes to Ukrainian laws and ways of implementing the inclusive education model in Ukraine.
The participants of the round table were:
Representatives of the Ministry of Education and science of Ukraine, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labor and social policy, Ministry of Regional development and construction, Ministry of Economics, Ministry of Transport and networks, Committee of Verhovna Rada in human rights, national minorities and international relations, Committee of Verhovna Rada in education and science, Committee of Verhovna Rada in European integration, Committee of Verhovna Rada in budget, State center of family and youth, international and Ukrainian foundations, non-governmental organizations, parents of children with special needs, teachers of general learning institutions, who build and develop the Ukrainian model of inclusive education.
Round table was organized by the Ukrainian Step by Step Foundation jointly with the Institute of special pedagogy of Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, Ukraine with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation.
